Experiential learning!

Montessori materials are development aids for children, their main function being to enable them to explore the world, grasp it and build themselves up.
Activities are divided into four areas: practical life, sensory life, language and mathematics. With the equipment the child can visibly and tangibly check for error enabling self-correction: they can assess for themselves if they have completed an activity properly. By correcting themselves, they become independent, can repeat the activity at their own pace and gradually develop their ability to concentrate.
This equipment allows the child to go from simple to complex and concrete to abstract without the educator's approval.
